We are looking for a driven, hands-on Software Developer to join our team to maintain and continue development of our highly customized, internal web-based system. This is a full-time, in-person position based in Irvington, NJ, and is best suited for someone who thrives in a structured but fast-paced environment, loves solving problems, and is ready to get deeply familiar with a unique, mature codebase.  

Our proprietary system is built from the ground up using a custom framework and constantly evolving. We're looking for someone who is invested, able to troubleshoot effectively, and is eager to grow with the system and company. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Learn and understand the full scope of our custom web-based system (front and back end). 

  • Handle ongoing system updates, feature development, and bug fixes. 

  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to build user-requested features and improvements. 

  • Use JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, PHP to work across the stack. Perl is a plus. 

  • Knowledge of AJAX/ Fetch communication procedures. 

  • Manage data retrieval and client-side rendering using JSON AJAX and JavaScript. 

  • Troubleshoot software-related issues and communicate effectively with both internal team members and clients. 

  • Adapt to a constantly evolving system that integrates direct feedback from customer requests. 

  • Communicate clearly with clients in a professional and timely manner 

Tech Stack 

  • Front End: HTML5, JavaScript (custom framework) 

  • Back End: Perl, MySQL 

  • Legacy tools: Microsoft Access (used for query building, quick data lookups) 

  • Fully web-based. 

Qualifications: 

  • Experience ranging from self-taught or with up to 2 years of professional experience 

  • Wager to learn and grow in a hands-on, in-house role. 

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills 

  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently 

  • Willingness to work in-house 

  • A mindset of ownership and accountability 

Benefits: 

  • Salary: $65,000 – $75,000 (While experience is valued, attitude, aptitude, and ownership matter most. For candidates who demonstrate strong self-taught ability and initiative, compensation will reflect their potential and contribution.)
